New Year Resolutions & Good Wishes

Many of my friends make New Year's resolutions and are quite successful at keeping them. I'm not all that self disciplined, so past resolutions were often forgotten by the time the excitement of the New Year ended. This year I'm hoping to change that. My best bud, JS, has made two resolutions that are inspiring, and I find myself wanting to make one too. It's been a few years since I partook in this tradition and I think I'm going to go about it in a different way. Instead of making a brand new change to initiate, I'm going to take a change that is starting to occur naturally and make a resolution to continue it through the year. On reflection, I think this is the method JS used to choose her two, so perhaps it's a better method because I always admire her careful and considerate actions.

For the past few weeks I've been feeling tense. This is especially noticeable in my shoulders and I find myself rotating them, my neck, and even grinding my teeth, none of which is good for you and often looks really weird. To try to alleviate this I've been getting down on the floor and doing 10 push ups, 10 leg raises, and 10 crunches. It seems to be helping, plus just doing it makes me feel better. I know that if I keep this up I'll be healthier and do more for my looks, self esteem, and general mood. Yay!

So this year my New Year Resolution is to continue to do those things and perhaps add in something else during the week that contributes to physical fitness. Thanks JS!

Happy New Year all! May it be the best you've ever had. May all your hopes and wishes for it come to pass. And may you be successful in keeping your resolutions.

Good luck on the resolutions. I gave up on making them a long time ago -just a waste of my time and breath there, ya know.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Jeni! Yeah, I know all about the wasting breath thing. I gave it up for a long time too. We shall see.

Cheers!

I liked a comment of yours, left on authorblog, and it made me look at Crysalis Dreams (and you ) a little more closely. As a watery Pisces, perhaps it was your airy Aquarius sign that clinched things - where would water be without oxygen?
Back to the breathing thing, it seems...

May this be the start of a beautiful blog friendship! I wish you were close enough for me to give you a 'healing hands' massage on those tense shoulders, but I'll have to make do with sending soothing, healing energies to them, instead.

Oh and I would so take that massage, Jinsky. Glad to know you are another lover of this practice. I've been doing massage for friends since I was in high school. Warm thoughts sent your way.

Hug!

Hi Lee - I too was/am tired of long laundry list resolutions...many of wish fall to the weigh side. So I did think what are two things that I need to do for myself that need to happen regardless of the time of year - hence my two resolutions. I'm glad this was helpful.

Many blessings and a relaxed body to you :)

Lee, making changes in the body is very powerful. You are wise to take this approach to alleviating stress.

And I am absolutely jealous of your ability to do 10 push-ups. Even when I was young, despite being a sit-up champion, the push-ups were just too hard for me. Over the holidays Flan was showing me some Pilates to help me build some strength.

Wow, San! You were a sit up champ? Awesome! No need to be envious, they are hard for me and I do the girl kind, but better one kind than none. Pilates is good, or so everyone tells me. I've yet to get into them, I tend more towards yoga.

Friends keep telling me that exercise does more than just strengthen the body. I think that is part of my motivation. Not sure I'm all that wise, I just had to find something to do with the tension. :-)

Hugs!
